I’m not going to lie, I grew up on Disney movies and was always a hopeless romantic. I escaped two abusive marriages and now am a single mother with 4 surnames on my Medicare card.
Darby Hudson’s instagram account made me laugh and feel like I wasn’t a failure. In face he made me feel a little proud of being the ‘persona non grata’. One of his quotes was: ‘ when a piece of art saves your life, you know you’re ready to be an artist. I don’t know if this is on the cards for me. But his work definitely brought me laughter when I hadn’t laughed in a long time. The authenticity, honesty and ‘zero per cent sorry’ energy which shines through his work is important. Because it reminds us of the bigger picture and to try and be authentic instead of believing the lies about how we should live that we have been fed our entire lives.

Don’t stop writing Darby. You never know which white privileged trophy mum you might save from herself.

Astonishing

I purchased this book as part of the complete collection of e-books and had to review it separately because it deserves special mention. It's quite simply a feast for the eyes and the soul. "Love and hate", "Bee", "Strangers", "Incredible" all wonderful examples of why you need this book in your life. Also .. I love typewriters.

Darbys art and poetry reminds me to seek out the cracks and look in-between, upside-down and behind to discover more magic and wonder.
His Poetry in this book gifts me greater capacity to hold lifes contradictions and absurdities.
I laugh a Lot!...Cry...get goosebumps....It's a real confetti tornado experience!
